The Ethics in Higher Education Programme (EHE) is designed to train higher education professionals around the world in various aspects of organisational ethics.

The programme is a joint effort of a number of Higher Education institutions from different countries which are part of the Globethics Consortium on Ethics in Higher Education.

The first course of the series on Ethics in Higher Education - EHE-TP1 - will be launched in early 2018.

Course Description

The course is intended for teachers and/or researchers in Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and helps them to recognise, understand and address ethical issues on personal, institutional and professional levels. As a course participant, you will be asked to reflect on current policies and practices within your institution and in the broader higher education arena. You will be given the knowledge and tools to approach these from an ethical perspective. On a personal level, you will also be given opportunities in ethical decision making and as a result, you will develop a self-assessment of your own norms and values.

Course Structure and Duration

This course is delivered in ten weekly modules on topical issues, designed by world-class experts and professors in applied and organisational ethics from renowned institutions. The first week is devoted to an introduction and the last to a final assignment. Throughout the modules, you will be invited to exchange with your peers in the forum and reflect on thought-provoking dilemmas and case studies.

The total duration of the course is 10 weeks, starting on 1 November 2018 and ending on 28 February 2019 with a break scheduled from 10 December 2018 until 20 January 2019 for the holiday season.


Teaching Methods

After the first introduction to the online platform and to other course participants, you are asked to complete 8 online modules that will consist of online interactive lessons, lecture materials, videos and forum discussions. The course will be interactive, which means that participants and workgroup leaders will be active on the same topics in the same timeframe (week). Online interaction and active engagement from your peers on the subject matter will help you to keep up the rhythm of assignments of the respective modules. At the end of the training, you will be asked to submit a final assignment of about 2,000 words on an ethical issue in your own context. The total workload is estimated at 40 hours.

The Ethics in Higher Education Training course for Teaching Professionals (EHE-TP1) is designed to train higher education professionals around the world in various aspects of organisational ethics. It is the first of the series on Ethics in Higher Education (EHE) which aims to enhance the ethical awareness among teaching professionals, in line with UNESCO Education Framework 2030.


Structure 

The course is organised in 13 online modules, taught by world-class professors on Applied Ethics from renowned universities and many ethics-minded professionals from all sectors, who are part of the Globethics Consortium of Universities on Ethics in Higher Education. 


Teaching method and duration

Participants are asked to complete 13 online modules for individual work which includes Q&A, quizz, online test at the end of each module; The duration of modules varies from topics and content delivery. The total duration is estimated at 40 hours of individual work. Participants can work at their own pace during a set period from 8 to 12 weeks.

Registration and enrollment

User access and password are provided upon receipt of the registration form with your contact details using this link. Enrollment by students can be done directly online on this platform, using the user access and password.

Enrolled students can download the material to do their individual work and upload them online. You can interact with the assigned trainer for the specific module on the platform. Optional face-to-face workshops or webinars for certain groups may be arranged.

Certificate of completion and credit transfer

A Certificate of completion is issued by the Globethics Academy (GEA) for students/participants who have completed the course.

The Capstone Project / Final Dissertation

Professionals who wish to be certified as a certified ethics professional may opt to do a Capstone Project in a form of a dissertation which allows 3 US (or 4.5 ECTS) credits.  These credits can be integrated to the selected academic programmes displayed on our GE Open Access Learning  platform (GOAL), offered by the Consortium institutional members, who are the diploma issuers. The list of online programmes will be available on GOAL by January 2018.

The Ethics & Governance in Higher Education Training course for Administrators (EHE-ETC1) is designed to train top management in HEI around the world on various aspects of organisational ethics. It is the first of the series on Ethics in Higher Education (EHE) which aims at promoting ethical practices among HEI senior management and staff, in line with UNESCO Education Framework 2030.

The course is organised as a 2-day workshop onsite,  and conducted by our Globethics Academy certified ethics trainers with track records in management experience and leadership in the education and/or public sector.

Teaching method and duration

Participants will participate to the class discussion, mock presentation on case studies related to issues in ethics and governance. The total duration is estimated at 20 hours on site and 20 hours of individual work. 

Registration and enrollment

User access and password are provided upon receipt of the registration form with your contact details using this link. Enrolled students can download the material to do their individual work and upload them online before class starts. They can interact with the assigned trainer for the specific module after the seminar for clarification.  

It is recommended to have face-to-face workshops or webinars if the conditions are met.
